Fluck Originals has been in development over the last 18 months as the team sought the best way to showcase Peter’s vibrant, graphic artwork.
Fluck Originals offers limited edition hoodies and T-shirts from its website, each featuring Peter’s distinctive work, beautifully screen-printed onto organic Fair Wear cotton clothing. The brand also offers embroidered trucker caps bearing the Fluck Originals’ logo, echoing its playful use of Peter’s quirky surname on its website and in its Instagram posts.
The drive behind Fluck Originals - that’s included Peter collaborating with students from Falmouth University’s Fashion Marketing BA - is to place his work among real life on the streets of the UK, rather than on the rarefied walls of galleries.
The current range is deliberately small, and the team are hoping to expand it as the market for its art-oriented, high-quality, limited-edition streetwear develops.
Peter Fluck’s career has included Co-Founding one of the most successful and controversial British TV series of the last century, exhibiting at the Tate as well as in other galleries in the UK and overseas, and winning best artwork at the Edinburgh Festival. Peter, now in his 80s, spends his time creating his distinctive script-based art and creating for the Fluck Originals product team, his cliff-top studio in Cadgwith.
Peter says,
“At this point in my career as an artist I’ve had work in galleries, I’ve won art prizes, I’ve had the attention of the art media. I’ve done that! Now I want my work out in the world as a living gallery, on the streets.”
Rob Moss founder of FreeHeel Design has been responsible for development of the brand, product range and products. Rob says of working with Peter on Fluck Originals, ‘Working with Peter is fascinating, surprising, fun! He creates at speed and his work is beautiful and full of energy. We’ve taken time selecting the right garments to carry it and the best UK based printers and embroiderers to partner with. Working in this way has given the product credibility and shows the work in the best way possible, the results are amazing’.
